Antibiotic Profiling of E. coli Borne UTI Infection in Tertiary Healthcare Settings
The study aimed to assess the antimicrobial resistance status of Escherichia coli in urinary tract infections (UTIs) in female patients. Out of 80 urine samples, 44 were positive for UTI, and 18 were positive for E. coli. The study identified different strains of E. coli, with eight showing pink oval-round spots and resistance to nitrofurantoin, cephalosporin, and cephalexin antibiotics. The results suggest that E. coli is rapidly becoming multidrug-resistant, and proper diagnosis, laboratory testing, and antibiotic treatment are necessary to effectively manage infections caused by E. coli.
